What my birth doula clients are saying:
“When I announced my pregnancy, a friend with 4 children told me she wished that she'd had a doula. I'd heard about doulas but didn't know what they did. I heard about Bentley from my OB GYN office and when my husband and I interviewed her, we knew we found our doula. Being a Black female, it was important for me to have someone on my team that understands the inequalities we face in healthcare, not just intellectually, but also in experience.
The process with her was supportive; she provided education, options, and advocacy. While my labor wasn't pain free, I felt empowered and in control because Bentley helped prepare my husband and I. She took our lead and helped us implement our birth preferences.
Our postpartum visit was particularly memorable. Between my son's tongue tie and tje various emotions of those first few weeks after giving birth, I was struggling. She shared some resources, including a parents group that was so helpful to me and that I'm still part of.
Bentley has a unique mix of education and experience for doula work. I don't remember every word she said to me in the process but I remember that she made me feel capable and strong; she gave me space to be vulnerable and to feel all of the emotions that come with pregnancy and postpartum. She's an incredible woman and I'm proud to call her a friend (though I tell everyone how awesome she was as a doula).”

“I couldn’t imagine not having Bentley by my side for both of my births. Her communication before the birth made me feel so much more prepared than I would have been able to do on my own. She asked questions that I didn’t even think of asking myself and it helped me feel more equipped. When I did have questions about the birthing process she never made me feel like a burden or like I didn’t know enough. During my births, she spoke up to make my requests known to my nurses and doctor before the thought even crossed my mind that I needed to say something. In other words, she completely took the mental load of having my desires met off of me. It felt like having another family member there to support me. I highly recommend Bentley if you’re looking for open communication and ongoing support in a doula.”

“Having Bentley as our doula for the birth of our first child was the best choice we could have made. Upon meeting her we were instantly drawn to her mission, professionalism, and clear communication. Prior to the big day we met with Bentley for two meetings in which she walked us though envisioning what we wanted to get out of the birthing experience as well as educating us about comfort measures and mental stamina. Our labor went longer than we were expecting and Bentley was supportive through it all. In early labor my partner and Bentley notified each other with updates. We spent the first 20 hours of labor at home only to learn later that my cervix was stalled at 1cm. Bentley did an amazing job balancing the role of coach, educator and nurturer who always kept my partner and my hopes and values at the focus of the birthing process. Bentley visited our family a few days after the birth and helped us explore and integrate the experiences we had throughout the birthing process. Her questions and comments were so helpful in understanding and holding our memories dear. Bentley was such a big part of making my family’s birthing experience one that we look back on with pride and reverence.”

“Having Bentley as my doula was an experience I can't imagine my pregnancy and birth without. From day one, I felt seen by her and could feel her passion and confidence in supporting me through the whole process. Bentley is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and encouraging and I highly recommend her doula services. I'm so honored that she was there for my daughter's birth.”
